New Berlin School District

New Berlin Eisenhower High School - Surface Improvements

More than 97% of the 10-plus acres of pavement needed improvements at Eisenhower High School. Over a five-year plan, R/M developed a pavement cross-section to stabilize the subgrade and optimize pavement performance while minimizing cost. R/M also developed an effective drainage plan with minimal asphalt slopes and storm sewers. Additionally, the team improved pedestrian safety and traffic flow.

During the playground reconstruction, R/M suggested the use of Portland Cement as a cost-friendly alternative to asphalt to reduce the loading on the school’s air conditioning use. This was recommended because asphalt absorbs heat and reflects it along the building. R/M was also able to resolve the school’s surface drainage challenges by designing a dry pond west of the playground to manage the school’s storm water.

Mukwonago Area School District

Mukwonago Rolling Hills Elementary School - Pavement Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation of the entire campus was warranted due to the condition of the pavement. R/M developed construction documents that provided the opportunity for the district to phase the construction over multiple years, as their budget allowed. Due to competitive bidding, the district was able to complete the entire rehabilitation project in one year. Throughout construction, R/M’s Construction Management Team helped identify opportunities to reduce the cost to the district and expedited the completion of this project.

Design and Construction Administration 2020-2023

R/M was contracted to provide construction administration and review for Green Bay Area Public School District schools as pavement improvements were performed. These projects included the repaving and additions of small parking lots, storm sewer work, and underdrain work. R/M assisted with the coordination of the installation of playground equipment, basketball hoops, and fencing across the school grounds.

During the course of one of the projects, it was found that some subgrade and sub-surface water drain issues had not been identified during the design process. R/M worked to mitigate those issues to ensure the long-term success of the pavement improvement. Our team coordinated schedules, payments, and communications with schools and staff regarding construction.

Gifford Elementary School - Parking Lot Expansion, Playground Drainage

R/M provided a comprehensive design for 250 parking stalls as well as lighting for the school. By coordinating with the school district and the Racine Highway Department, the design incorporated the appropriate lighting, pedestrian crossing, rapid flashing beacon assembly, and main entrance accommodations that the school required. This expansion required R/M to work on an expedited timeline. All survey, design, and submittals were completed within a month in order to be prepared for the anticipated construction date necessary for the school.

Washington Island School District -
Site Civil Design Services

The Washington Island Schools were experiencing regular water infiltration on the north and east sides of the building. To design a cost-effective solution, R/M used drone technology to complete a topographic survey of the site to better understand the cause of the issues. After coming to a consensus, R/M prepared a plan set for the district with removal plans, erosion control plans, site plans, utility plans, and grading plans which will all be used during construction.
