The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has announced a new $75 million Multimodal Local Supplement (MLS) grant.

This one-time, reimbursement grant opportunity offers communities the chance to have up to 90% of their transportation project costs covered by the DOT.

This grant is being offered by WisDOT in addition to the Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP) grant. Like the LRIP, the MLS grant aims to improve economic development throughout all of Wisconsin and is focused on aiding both large and small communities.

Eligible transportation projects

  • Roads

  • Bridges

  • Transit capital and facility projects

  • Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations

  • Railroads

  • Harbors

MLS Grant Highlights

The MLS grant program has set aside $18.4 million for cities and villages, $26 million for counties, and $28.9 million for towns.

The minimum project cost for counties, cities, and villages is $250,000. Towns have project total cost of $50,000.

The maximum MLS project award is set at $3,500,000. Eligible projects must be completed withing six-years.
