R/M has been Serving Local People
& Solving Local Problems since 1946.
Driven from the housing market boom in the post-World War II era, Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. (R/M) was established in 1946. Founders John Mielke and Frank Ruekert, Sr. started out moonlighting in their houses at night designing subdivisions. As young engineers, John came home from a commission in the Army Corps of Engineers to join Frank, then an engineer with the City of Waukesha.
Since then, R/M has become the local leader in helping municipalities achieve balance with fiscal responsibilities and infrastructure needs which support the quality of life and make each community desirable as a place to live and work.
In mid-2016, R/M acquired the staff of Kaempfer & Associates, Inc. (K&A), a firm located in the Fox Valley area with almost 30 years’ experience. In the past, K&A has prided itself with performing water, wastewater, and municipal engineering services to many municipalities throughout Wisconsin. During the last several years, we at R/M have had the pleasure of working with K&A with common clients and have been able to witness the commonalities between their firm’s approaches and our own.
With R/M’s acquisition of K&A staff, we will enjoy added expertise in these services areas, greater technical excellence, and an enhanced ability to better serve our clients. With a new office in the Fox Valley area and new staff to utilize, R/M continues to grow and improve our already robust capabilities.
As a company who has announced our 100% ESOP transition, we have continued to be viewed as the “the place to be”. We give our employees a voice within the company. Mentoring efforts have allowed employees to soar through glass ceilings and face our industry head on. Mentors at R/M aren’t always your direct supervisor, but could be found in other areas of the company. As a company, our Culture Action Team strives to bring fun and creative internal events to our employees such as Brewers games, camping trips, breakfast with Santa, and many more. These events continue to shape who we are internally and where we want to be.
R/M’s commitment is where it matters most – at the local level and to the community. R/M employees aren’t just engineers, financial analysts or technology experts. R/M staff live, work and play in your communities. Our experts have authentic perspective on the daily challenges and expectations in which your residents - their neighbors - want in their municipal services. Spanning across the Midwest, R/M has grown to 6 locations to create long-term client relationships through personalized services and tailored solutions which have proven to save communities both time and money.
